After upgrading to LO 4.4 I find that I cannot use the Zotero reference management plug-in because LO seems to not like 64-bit java on Mac 10.10.

Is there anything I can do other than use an outdated and possibly hazardous old version of Java?
Are there plans to make LO 4.4x work with up-to-date Java 64-bit versions?
Is there an explanation for why the two (LO 4.4 and newer 64-bit Java) are not yet compatible?
