Ask Your Question

I just created a form. I turned off "Open in Design View". But I still can't enter data. What else do I have to do to make this usable?

Created a form in BASE, based on a table using the form wizard. Really easy. After saving, I used Form Navigation, right clicked on Forms, and De-Selected "Open in Design Mode". Saved again. When I open the form, the "New Record" button is still greyed out and I can't enter data. What else do you have to do to actually use a form to enter data? (after working with Microsoft Access for years & years, I'm really totally lost on Libre Office)

Is this the first time you have used a Form in Base? Is there any data in the Table the Form is linked to and if so does it show?

If you open the table directly can you enter data? If not have you set a Primary Key for the table?

Navigate to the form properties Ensure that:

Allow additions

Allow modifications

Allow deletions

are all set to "Yes"

I suspect when you created this form with the wizard you turned all these off (i.e. set them to "no") and that's why you can't enter any data.

If this doesn't work check that you have not inadvertently deleted or changed the table or query that services the form.

also make sure you have a primary key on the table you are trying to modify.
