I just upgraded to 4.4. and suddenly the toolbars are in a tiny font compared to all previous versions. I can barely see them!

Also, they are not in the order I remember then in past versions - can one re-order items on the toolbars?

OK, pierre-yves samyn's reply solved the size issue, but I notice one other thing. In the past hovering the mouse over an icon gave its name/function. Now one get nothing. I know most of them, but a few I forget and need to see some description. Possible?

An important work of reorganization was done in version 4.4. See release notes. As noted on this page you can organize as you want with Tools Customize Toolbars Tab.

The size of the font is in principle not affected by these changes. You can optionally verify that the Tools Option LibreOffice View User interface Scaling is 100%

On the same Options Dialog, the icon size can be changed from automatic, small, large.

Tools Options LibreOffice View Icon Size and Style:

I thought the icon sizes had changed from 4.3 to 4.4 as well.

Yes but it seems to be the opposite of the problem: Large icons are now shown by default - Regards
