Why does LibreOffice verify each time I open it on mac? Will this be a problem when I work offline?

  1. Latest version of Libreoffice - i assume - as i just downloaded it
  2. Mac Book pro - yosemite

Just wondering if I’ve missed a stage out somewhere - and will it now be able to verify once I work offline?

Thanks for any help all.

James

Please provide more information.

-What is LibO verfiying?

and you can work off-line perfectly fine.

It could be due to OSX’s security settings. Under default security settings, applications that are not installed through the App Store and are not from ‘identified’ developers seek verification when opened. If this is the case, you can follow the directions at https://support.apple.com/kb/PH14369?locale=en_US or simply change the setting at System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Allow apps downloaded from:.

Any luck? I just downloaded the latest version of LibreOffice and am getting the same problem.

It would help a lot if either of you had answered ROSt52’s question (even if you do not know the specifics).

There are a number of reasons why LO would want to connect to the Internet. As just one example, examine Menu:Tools Options LibreOffice Online Update Check for updates automatically. If ‘Every day’ is ticked then you have at least one reason.

Make sure to open it from Applications folder.
