[SOLVED] Is it possible to save a .txt file in a different encoding with LO?

i’m running PCLinuxOS and LO 4.4.1.2 and have some .txt files that i would like to open and resave in a different encoding so that they open correctly under a program called Ocean which evidently just works with .txt files.

Is there any way to accomplish this with LO Writer?

Never mind. i found that i can open the .txt file in Kedit and just save it with the correct encoding by selecting the encoding at the time i save it from the drop-down list at the bottom of the Save window.

Using Menu/Save as, there is an option for select the file type:

Text - Choose Encoding (.txt) (*.txt)

Once file type it’s select, mark the ‘edit filter settings’, on next steps you will be asked by the filter options.

I can’t do that using version 6.1.2.1.
