Keeping new font color when typing in the middle of a paragraph

This question is wrt LibreOffice writer…

Let’s imagine I have a few pages of black text. I make changes to it - add and delete sentences, basically. Show changes is on. I finally accept changes and yay… everything is black. However, what if I want these additions I make to show up in red after accepting changes?
DO I needto select and change font color for each change individually? Is there a way of doing them all together? Is there any way to keep Writer from reverting to Black when I change font color to red once and then type in the middle of another paragraph?

I change font color to red once and then type in the middle of another paragraph?

Writer formatting is based on styles. In the simplest case, those styles are based at a character-level, a paragraph-level or a page-level. Thus, if you “change font colour to red” that is a character style-change and, when you move to another paragraph, it will no longer apply within the new paragraph. You would either need to make the same change within the new paragraph, or modify the currently style permanently.

Local changes: menu:- Format | Character... or Paragraph... or Page...

Permanent changes: F11 (Styles & Formatting) (select) Paragraph Styles or Character Styles or Page Styles right-click on the style & choose Modify...

To have a colour change on Changes, therefore, you would need to be able to auto-associate a named character-style with changed text (compared with original text), and I cannot find any way to do that in Writer.

:frowning: Oh No!!! But thanks a lot for explaining. At least now I know it’s not my fault
