While creating a Writer document with the standard toolbar visible, why are the cut and copy buttons in that toolbar grayed out and not available ?

Paste is only available if there is something in the clipboard to be pasted. Cut and copy are only available when some text has been selected to cut or copy. This is the way it should work.

LO- under Debian 6.0 (32-bit, EN-GB)

In 'normal' mode they are greyed out for me, too. However, as soon as I select some text then both become available. That seems like correct behaviour to me. Is it different for you?
