how do I get a link on the desktop? [closed]

This sounds pretty rudimentary but I can't find it anywhere.

I want to put a link to Writer on the desktop.

How do I do this?

Generally, this depends on the OS you're using. For windows, see timon's answer below. If you don't work with windows, please specify the OS.

I'm using Windows 10 and with Libre Office 4 it worked perfect, but it doesn't work with Libre Office 5.

In All Program list find LibreOffice 3.X - LibreOffice Writer, mouse right click, Send to... - Desktop (create shortcut)
