How can I use spellcheck dutch

version 4.4.5.2
LibreOffice is Locale en_US
Language I want to spellcheck=Dutch

LO does NOT currently have a Dutch spell-checker extension. Whoops-a-daisy. Try either:

Go: (menu):ToolsOptionsLanguage SettingsLanguages

  1. Set User Interface to what you wish
  1. Set Locale setting to your locale
  2. Set Default languages for documents to Dutch
(must be same as spell-check language, one-only)
(this one decides whether your spell-checker will work or not)

Go (menu):ToolsExtension Manager...

  1. Look for “Dutch spelling dictionary, and hyphenation rules 2.0.0 (OpenTaal)”?
    (see also Q11637)

    (if not available):
  1. Obtain a spell-check extension for the same “Default languages…” as above
  2. Install it

You can find your current locale from a terminal under Linux
(there is lots more than I show; try to have them all the same):-

:~$ locale
LANG=en_GB.UTF-8

If this helps then please tick the answer (:heavy_check_mark:).

Of course it existed back then. There just isn’t a wiki page in Dutch with the information on that page. If you had scrolled down, you’d have found the Dutch dictionary.

There is a Dutch LibreOffice support and discussion group on http://nabble.documentfoundation.org/ which I am sure you will find useful.

But to have Dutch support you will need to load the Dutch Language Pack. I believe this contains the Dutch dictionary. Just as we install the en_GB pack for the English dictionary. You can then keep the locale to whichever Language you wish…Peter
