I have to put the page number on my headers but only on the header of page 8 and so forth, so the first 8 pages must have nothing in the header, how can I do it?
Headers (and Footers) + their content are linked to the Page Style. Thus:-
- To have same Header content in each page (including numbers) use same Page style
- To have different Header content in each page (including numbers) change the Page style
Fix it like this:-
- Navigate to top of first page of change (eg p9)
- Go (
menu
):Format
→Styles & Formatting
(orF11
) - Click on
Page Styles
- Select the current Page Style (if not already selected)
- Click on
New Style from Selection
→New Style from Selection
- (make sure that current style is selected below entry line)
- Enter new name + Press
OK
- Go (
menu
):Insert
→Manual Break
(select new Page Style just created) - Press
OK
(you now have a new page in the new style)
(text + fields added to Header/Footer will now repeat in all following pages that use the same style, but NOT in previous pages) (even though the 2 styles are actually identical).
The above will start the page numbers at (9) (assuming that this is the 9th page). If you want to have a different page number, then at (8) above use the following steps instead:-
- Go (
menu
):Format
→Paragraph
→Text Flow
tab
- check
Break
+Insert
andWith page style
(select new Page Style just created)
(adjust page number as desired)
If this helps then please tick the answer ().
Hi
Alex gave good informations about headers. In addition you can find this wiki page information about the page numbering (because it is common, in this case, not start numbering at the first page). The FAQ describes how to proceed to the second page, just adapt the eighth.
