Page number is not shown in libre office 5.0.0.5

I have downloaded libre office 5. When inserting page number for any document by clicking insert, fields, page numbers it is entering as

page numbers

in each page. The pagenumber is not shown. The same things aroused when I used the libre office 4.1.4 .

I am using windows 8.1 English and Tamil are the languages in the machine

(it took me quite a bit of testing to find what was happening - easy when I knew how!)

• open (menu):View→Field Names (Ctrl+F9)

It’s a toggle:- in one position you see the number, and in the other you see ‘Page numbers’.
