LibreCalc, dot and arrow pointing to next cell, what is it?

Been using LibreOffice calc for a couple of years now, and something happened that I have not seen before. I entered a formula into cell L52, formula is “=3*$H$25”, and as well as showing the results of the calculation, it has a dot with a line ending in an arrowhead pointing into the next cell, M52. The contents of M52 is another formula, “=M51-L52”. Now I am not sure which cell is causing this arrow thing to appear, and I have no idea what it is called, which is preventing me from looking it up in the manual, or online :frowning:

When I hover over it with the mouse pointer, the pointer changes to a little magnifying glass with an upward pointing arrow inside.

I have tried printing the group of cells in this area to a file, to enable me to show what I am talking about, it saved it as a PDF, and I don’t know how to include this in this post, or even if I can do, since I have just joined, sorry.

Sorry to be so vague, but any help would be appreciated, even telling me what it is, or what it is called, would allow me to check in the manual or online for further help, but I can’t search for “LibreCalc thing that I don’t know the name of”, not effectively, anyway, lol

Thanks in advance,

Ricky Walker

I have tried a few things , and found that if I delete the formula from cell M52, the arrow thing goes away, but when I put the formula back in, it re-appears, so must be something to do with showing that one cell is referencing the other. Hope this helps to identify what it is, and how to get rid if it!

OK, I found out what it was, something called “traces”, under the Tools/Detective menu. Not sure how I triggered it in the first place, must have accidentally hit the shortcut key combo that triggers it, but I got rid of it by selecting “Tools/Detective/Remove all traces” Anyway, problem sorted now, and I’ve learned about another feature of the spreadsheet!

Cheers
