Hello - firstly - let me explain that I am a luddite!

When I upgraded to WIndows 10 (which I deeply regret) I couldn't open any of my documents. I am not sure what version of Libre office I had before but installed LibreOffice 5 and it doesn't work as well at all. I am not sure if this is to do with Libre office or Windows 10. An example of what doesn't work as well is if I try and 'undo' something I have donw, it will only let me undo the last thing I have done not several things like before. Another example is that the cut and paste function is now sometimeish.....

Can anyone offer any help or has this happened to anyone else. Since upgrading to WIndows 10, I hate my laptop and it's all really slowing me down!

Thanks in advance to anyone that helps me!! Sims

I finally uninstalled LO 5 and went back to 4.4.6. I do believe it has to do with Windows 10 and its first just released service pack. The bug I found was LO 5 loaded and started quite nicely until I tried to use Impress. Every single time I tried to use the Master Pages on the side bar the program locked up. At this point all the drop down menus drop down as blank boxes. Before I used the side bar Master Pages everything worked. Including all the other side bar functions. But as soon as I used the Master pages feature everything ceased from working. I could x out of the program and it would close without asking me to save the document. That was nice. So I tried it again and again and again with the same results every single time.

After uninstalling LO 5 and reinstalling everything works properly. So LO 5 is not compatible with Windows 10 new service pack. Which is essentially a completely new update/upgrade of the entire Windows 10.

Oh yeah, I own 5 laptops and 2 desktops all running Windows 10 and everyone of them had the above described problem. So its not a fluke on just one brand of machine. By the way, I like windows 10 and believe it will only get better with each service pack. These kind of problems have been rare for me which is unusual with a new OS.

UPDATE: I can't sleep when I have a computer problem and can't seem to fix it. First thing I do is go online and see if someone else has already resolved my issue. If no one has then I end up staying up sometime for 24 hours trying to fix it and I usually can come up with something through trial and error. LO 5 is slow and buggy but I see the potential and can't wait for the fixes to come out. I think Microsoft may thrown them a curve with this New Upgrade of Windows 10. Never the less I found part of the problem with the Impress and why it was doing the above problem that caused me to write this thread. During the years that I have used LO, I have acquired quite a collection of templates for Impress. Some I made and many I got off the site. It seems that LibreOffice 5 does not like all templates except the ones that come with it. I deleted all my added templates and LO 5 has started working. It boots up very fast but then slows down so that version is still faster and smoother functioning over all. Never the less Version 5 is going to be great when all the little bugs are worked out. I need to send Libra another $20 dollars. I know it ain't much but every little bit probably helps.

Have you tried LibreOffice 5 with a clean profile?

Hi Sims

LO-5 is from LibreOffice Fresh & as such may be buggy. You need to get used to using Bugzilla (or the Bug Assistant).

The alternative is to use LibreOffice Still (more stable, less exciting).

There are masses of problems being reported with the combo of LO-5 & win-10.

Update March 2016:

The latest OpenGL/OpenCL bugs (see Q64314, fixed Dec '15) are independent of the OS, so do not blame Win10 in this case.
