Small .msi and big .cab aganist BIIIIG .msi

Oh hai…

Where I can download LibreOffice Windows Installer in OpenOffice style i.e. small .msi and large .cab file in sfx archive instead one very big msi? New distribution style is completely crap and useful only in domains deploying. I don’t want to have BIG… VEEERY BIIIG .msi cache file in C:/WINDOWS/Installer/ . That a bad idea move to one big .msi.

My LibreOffice 3.6.1 installation database *.msi in C:\WINDOWS\Installer\ has a file size of 12 MB; that’s less than some Microsoft patches…

Can’t! No longer the way LibreOffice for Windows is built/deployed. For quality of deployment/installation–moved to a single configurable .MSI (~200MB), configure the installer with Microsoft ORCA as needed. As always, you are very welcome to download the full Source and compile it for yourself.

manj_k, vsfoote, may I suggest you to move your comment as answers?

There is no “BIG… VEEERY BIIIG .msi cache file in C:/WINDOWS/Installer/”.

You can’t equate the downloaded installer "LibreOffice_*.msi" with the created LibreOffice installation database "*.msi" in the directory "C:\WINDOWS\Installer\".

Example LibreOffice 4.0.0

Installer LibreOffice_4.0.0.3_Win_x86.msi:

183 MB

LibreOffice installation database *.msi ("C:\WINDOWS\Installer\"):

12.4 MB

qubit, this isn’t right. You’ll be getting the karma and awards for vsfoote’s post.

@Uglyface200, The situation isn’t perfect. In a newer rev of Askbot, mods can turn a Comment → Answer. But I don’t have a magic button because I’m still waiting for an upgrade.

In the meantime, we’re working hard to garden the site so it is usable. Please help Answer questions & you will get karma
