Hello,
I am on Windows 8.1 trying to get Base to work. It is looking like I need a 32 bit version of JRE. I can’t find one. Am I out of luck?
I’ve downloaded 1.8.60 64 bit but Base says it can’t find it when trying to create a table.
Thank you.

You can find Jave in : http://www.java.com/en/
Maybe you have it installed but not selected. Verify in Menu/Tools/LibreOffice/Advanced.
It is selected and sees it and says “JRE already installed”. It knows what it is and the file path. But to add a Table it says it is required to install JRE and where to go under Tools>Options>Advanced which I have done many times.
Another site for the Jre 8 download is FileHippo.com (I searched for jre 8 32 bit in Google Chrome, the FileHippo site was the second one listed)
What LO version do you have installed? Is it an x86 (32-bit) version (such as the current STILL version 4.4.5), but installed on a x86-64 64-bit Windows?
That is a well-known problem.
- Upgrade to the current FRESH version 5.0.1
(that has a x86-64 64-bit win download available, unlike the Still version), or
menu)Tools→Options→LibreOffice→Advanced→Java OptionsOK
Perfectly possible, with lots of help from Oracle, including download links:
32-bit Java Advised on 64-bit Windows
“64-bit Windows operating systems (such as Windows 7, Vista or XP) come with a 32-bit Internet Explorer (IE) browser as the standard (default) for viewing web pages. These operating systems also include a 64-bit Internet Explorer browser, however using it is optional and it must be explicitly selected to view web pages. Note that because some web content may not work properly in a 64-bit browser, we recommend using the default 32-bit browser and downloading 32-bit Java.”

(Choose a version/OS by hand, rather than auto-chosen by the site)
"Windows 8 is officially supported with the release of Java 7 Update 10. Java will only be supported in Desktop screen. Java will not run in the Start screen."

Fresh Version worked. Thank you.
