Can Calc save a document as an .XLSX doc?

Work computer doesn’t have Microsoft Excel, and OpenOffice cannot save as the .XLSX format.

UPDATE 2016.0321
I just checked and need to correct myself. LO uses dot+asterisk not underscore+asterisk as previously stated.

Yes. You should check to make sure everything works as expected in the converted file, however. While most things should be fine, a couple of things I have noticed are:

  • Wildcards used in formulas will need adjustment. Calc uses *underscore+asterisk* where Excel uses only the *asterisk* to denote wildcards.
  • Pivot tables in Calc look more like Excel Pivot tables prior to 2007, so you may need to recreate them in Excel from the dataset if you need the look of Excel 2007 and higher. Be sure you have the most recent version and update of LO Calc before converting to xlsx.

I believe in v5.2.0 full support of Excel-style wildcards has been implemented. Refer tdf#72196.

That’s GREAT to know, @oweng. Right now, I am running LO Version: 5.1.0.3 for Windows and LO Version 5.1.1.2 for Linux. As far as I am aware, LO Version 5.2.0 has not been released as a stable version – but I definitely look forward to seeing this issue resolved when it is.

Yes. See Q59178 for more info.
