Imga render quality very bad - how to fix?

Hi all,

Is there any way how to improve the view quality of the images included in the document in writer? Image itself is sharp but the LO writer itself is rendering the image in very bad quality. Take a look at the image bellow.

Left is the image in LO Writer, right is the exported PDF. Why the image in LO in bad quality? Both have 100% zoom. Click on the image for full size.

  • test_original.png - Original image used, sharp, good quality
  • test.doc - Containing the image above, render quality is very bad
  • test.pdf - Exported doc above into PDF - image quality is OK (a bit blurry due to the compression)
  • sidebyside.png - side by side view of the difference in LO writer and PDF … both images have 100% zoom.

It is clear that its not caused by the poor image quality but the LO writter is causing this.

I have LO Version: 4.4.5.2, Build ID: 4.4.5.2-5.fc22

Thanks !

Those are exceptionally good examples (or exceptionally poor, depending on your direction of view) of LO’s lousy page rendering. I’ve experienced the same symptoms–although not such poor font rendering–under both Windows & Linux. Indeed, I could go on & on & on about it. However, I’m not prepared to submit it as a bug so there’s no point.

Ok, so I’ve updated to 5.0.2.2 and finally the image render is working OK. Images are (almost) the same as source.
