I have a need to print several envelopes (3-10) on a recurring basis. I want to set it up so I have a document all ready to go and all I need to do is open and print as needed.

I don't really have enough addresses to warrant the use of a database and mail merge. When I go to 'Insert -> Envelope', it just creates one envelope. If I hit enter a bunch of times it'll move to a new page (envelope), but the address fields aren't there; I have to copy n paste and manually locate them, which is tedious and error-prone.

Please tell me there is a better way to do this?

Using LO, Writer, English on Ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS

You can use the mail merge function without having to create anything. The default installed Bibliography database includes empty data fields, for example Custom2 to Custom5. So you can:

  1. Create an envelope as usual,
  2. Insert one of these fields (eg. Custom2) in the Addressee area (drag & drop from the Data Sources view or menu Insert Fields More Fields Database tab,
  3. Run File Print, answer Yes to Your document contains address database fields...
  4. Select as many records as the desired number of envelopes

You can even use these empty fields to fill in your addresses (in the case of course where you do not already using these fields for the bibliography).
