I thought ever since version 5 that Java 7 has been supported? When I first installed LibreOffice 3.6.1 I didn’t even have the JRE installed and everything worked fine (I guess only some components of LibreOffice use Java). But trying to use the Base application tosses a JRE error. So I downloaded the 64-bit version of the latest Java 7, fired up base and got the “this JRE is defective” error. What is going on? Is the new LibreOffice Update (3.6.2) going to fix this?
Seems like there are still some issues to resolve between Base and Java. I too tried using Java 7 64-bit and saw problems. Reversion to Java 6, update 35, 32-bit seems to have resolved most problems for me.
However, there are still some problems with reports crashing Base that I hope are being worked on. It would be nice to get completely away from Java but that looks like it might be a bigger job for some future release.
Only a 32 bits Java 1.7 or 1.6 works with LibreOffice, and also verify is select the Java to use in Menu/Tools/Options/LibreOffice/Java.
I can connfirm that. After many and many trials (and closing notebook :-() I solved problem with installing older (32bit) version jre-6u31-windows-i586.exe from: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jre-6u31-download-1501637.html
After that you must check the Menu/Tools/Options/LibreOffice/Java selection.

If you are using 64-bit Windows, you should download and install BOTH the 32-bit AND the 64-bit versions of JRE 7.
This is because 32-bit applications, such as LibreOffice, Internet Explorer 32-bit, and Firefox, CANNOT use the 64-bit version of Java JRE.
