Getting black boxes over text

I am getting black boxes over the top words “File, Edit View, Insert” etc. Also along the bottom. Not all the letters are blacked out, but enough where it makes it tough to see. When I right click to spell check a word, the suggested words have black boxes over some of the letters as well. Any ideas?
