Help files are installed but I still get online help

I installed the help files, but F1 (or help menu item) still gets me to the online help. I checked that the installed languages were the same (en-GB). I noted that this as an issue about 3 years ago and that resetting my profile might help - I had just done this to cure another problem so didn’t bother again.

Using LO 5.0.2.2 on Windows 7 Home 64-bit.

Just upgraded to 5.1.0.3 Running Windows 10. F1 takes me to the libreoffice site. Going back to 4 until this gets fixed

Hi pyoye

If you have Reset your Profile (Q59016) + checked that both your UI language + Help file language are identical, then it is a bug. Report direct at Bugzilla or the Bug Submission Assistant.

Update 2021:
A number of folks do not realise that the modern embedded Help-Pack launches within a browser, in exactly the same way as remote Help. The difference, of course, is that remote help requires an Internet connection + is acquired from a remote server (the browser address begins with https://) whereas embedded help can be used offline + launches from local storage (the browser address normally begins with file://).

Internal requirements for embedded Help are:-

  1. That the Help install file-version has the exact same 4-section Version number as the installed program
(eg Version: 6.1.5.2; this can be found via menu:Help | About LibreOffice)
  2. That the Help install file-language is identical to the program UI language
(program language is found/changed at: `menu:Options | Language Settings | Languages)
  3. The Help install file needs to be the correct one for your machine’s Operating System (OS)
(Note: you also need to match the LO-program bitwidth (32-bit or 64-bit))
(all program + help-pack install files ever produced for every OS are archived here for download)

If this helps then please tick the answer (:heavy_check_mark:)

…and/or show you like it with an uptick ()

Thanks. I’ve reset the profile without it changing, and my language is definitely en-GB for both the program locale and the help file folder name. I’ll report it as a bug.

Thanks for selection + feedback, and good luck with the bug-report.

Well, apart from the same advice that you gave, there’s not been any movement on the bug report site.
