Turn OFF multiple selection in Writer?

I keep getting snagged by multiple selection. I’ll have some text selected, and drag and drop it into another prog. Then I’ll come back to Writer, select more text with the mouse, and drag and drop it to the other prog. But the original selection is still selected, and it comes along too. Isn’t there a way to turn this off by default? I’m not pressing any key while I’m working the mouse.

Thanks.

Thanks. That Selection Mode in the Edit Menu had escaped me. However it does not solve my problem. I’m already set for Standard selection. If I select with the mouse, then hold down CTRL in order to copy, rather than cut, while I’m dragging and dropping, when I come back to LO and select new text (without CTRL) the original selection remains. Now when I drag and drop, again pressing CTRL, I get both selections copied over.

Hi

If you copy by drag & drop into another document, and more in another program it is absolutely not necessary to hold down the Ctrl key.

The selection will not be cut. Once your issue is resolved: when you “go back” to LibreOffice the next selection is not added.

Awesome. THAT was easy! Thanks much. I’m new to Linux and, to a great extent, LO. Much appreciated!
