In Writer I cleared the list of recent documents…dies that delete them permanently…or can I retrieve them…
As far as I am aware, you have deleted the list permanently. If you have been using the LibO defaults, the files you have storedwill be stored in the folder listed under TOOLS > OPTIONS > PATHS > MY DOCUMENTS for Linux. Other O/S’s have slightly different settings.

Deleting the list of docs shown within LO simply deletes them from the “Recent documents” list. It does NOT touch the actual docs on the disc.
So yes, you can still retrieve them. Press Ctrl+O (for ‘Open’), navigate to their folder & select from the listing.
