Upgrade from 32 bit to 64 bit LO

I am running LO version 4.4.5.2 (updated today) which was installed over a year ago on a Windows 7 64-bit machine. At the time of installation I opted for 32-bit LO. I’m not sure if 64-bit was an option then, but in any case I selected 32-bit. However, not knowing any better I selected 64-bit JAVA as a subsequent install. This created problems with BASE, which I was using (experimentally) to access an MS SQL Server 2008 R2 database. I could link to the tables but could not run reports. I solved that problem today by installing a 32-bit version of JAVA, running alongside the 64-bit version. After pointing to the 32-bit JAVA I can now create and run reports. SFSG.

Eventually it would be nice to run a 64-bit version of Libre Office, which I have already installed on Linux implementations, under Windows 7. This does not appear to be an option for my current version; it seems I would need to update to v.5.x, aka “Fresh”. My questions are: Will the conversion from 32 to 64 bit preserve any settings or files? Would I be better served to uninstall v.4 before installing v.5?

Thanks for your reply.
