Does impress in libreoffice v5 link or embed pictures and clip art

That's the question above and then if it links how do I embed? and if I save a powerpoint what happens to the embedded pics

You are possibly suffering the mysterious non-print of pictures, which is due to an OpenGL bug. See the reply to Q64314 for info + a fix.

When you insert an image you can check the Link checkbox . If you do not check, the picture is embedded in the file.

When saving in powerpoint format (eg. pptx) the image is still there. You can unzip this type of document: you will find the picture in the ppt/media folder
