LibreOffice installation process asking for 'LibreOffice 4.4.4.3' disk

When trying to install LibreOffice (4.4.4.2, 4.4.4.3, 4.4.6, 4.4.7.2, 5.0.4, English language version) on Windows 10, I get a box telling me to "insert the LibreOffice 4.4.4.3 disk and click OK. A box requesting source information has a value of “1” in it.

The system is running Windows 10 home, 64 bit OS.

Here are the fixes I tried without success:

  1. Did a through uninstall of the existing LO implementation using Advanced System Care.

  2. Ran registry cleanup utilities from CC Cleaner and Advanced System Care in case the registry was corrupted.

  3. Tried selectively killing some msiexec processes using Task manager when the box appeared, based on a similar problem described in the forum, but that just aborted the entire install process.

  4. Tried pointing the “Use Source:” box to the LO 4.4.4.2 and 4.4.4.3 install (.msi) files.

  5. When looking at the Task manager results, I noticed one msiexec process waiting on a second msiexec process that was in turn waiting on the first msiexec process to complete - a classic deadly embrace. Exiting that killed the whole install process.

Is it worth downloading the ISO file and trying to install from a real DVD?

Any help is greatly appreciated, TIA!

I also downloaded the LO DVD ISO and tried using it. Same results, it asks for the “Libre Office 4.4.4.3 disk and click OK.” The “User SOurce” box was again set to a value of 1. I pointed it to the DVD and clicked ok, but got an error message telling me to load the disk containing “LibreOffice.msi.”

Out of desperation I went to the downloads folder which contained several of the LO versions previously downloaded. I renamed “LibreOffice_4.4.4.3_Win_x86.msi” to “LibreOffice.msi,” pointed the

“User Source” box to that file in the downloads directory, and clicked OK. Everything went fine after that, and I was able to update to LO 5.0.4 from there. Many thanks to me!!
