I receive the following error when I try to save a document

LibreOffice 5.0.2.2 English Writer
Windows 10 PRO English

I receive the following error when I try to save a document: "Error saving the document ‘filename’: Error creating object. Could not create backup copy.

I have had this error before. I checked the file in File Manager and there was a .~lock file. But I don’t remember what I should do next.

Also, I thought this to be an easy question, but no matter what I used as search words, I could not find a previous answer to this question.

Updating LO would be good to do.

The lock file is there to prevent multiple users from updating the same file. If you are the single user on your own system, the .lock file may have been left from a problem where LibO has not closed correctly. There are also several bugs around this problem with Windows 10.

I would make a backup copy of the file in question and then delete the lock file. If the problem re-surfaces, you could try renaming the LibO profile, make a backup first, as this often fixes “peculiar” errors…Peter

Sorry, I have not found the answer yet, but I am still searching.

The correct answer for me was to download/install/use Version 4.4.7.2. I can now save any document that I want!

NOT AN ANSWER ! DELETE !

In my case, the reason was probably that the directories for backups and temporary files did not exist. After setting correct paths in Options / LibreOffice / Paths the problem was resolved.
