I have upgraded to LO 5.1 under Ubuntu 14.04 using the 'LibreOffice 5.1.x' ppa. The writer app works fine, and has all the new features, but in the Calc menu, the 'Sheet' item is missing.

Does anyone know what is going on, and how should i fix this?

Same here - Calc in LO 5.1 for Linux from DEB packages has no Sheet menu. But Calc in LO 5.1 for Windows does have the Sheet menu. Perhaps someone knows why.

Determined to get the Sheet menu I asked this question on the mailing list & got this answer:
Go to Tools > Customize then on the Menus tab click "Reset".
This revealed the Sheet menu.
Apparently LO was honoring prior customizations I made to the menu.

P.S. To which mailing list did you post your question?
