Updating to 5.1 Caused Menus to Disappear

I updated to LibreOffcie 5.1 from 5.0 and all the menus disappeared. There was no apparent way to get them back or use any part of the interface except for the toolbar. There was only a black space where the menus should have been.
Windows 7 Prof. 32GB RAM.

I temporarily uninstalled and reinstalled version 5.0 to solve the issue. Is this a known issue or is there a workaround?

Hi

This wiki page provide information on these problems. I personally used successfully (windows 7 platform) modifying the registry mentioned in this point.

Regards

create a new file in your desktop, name it : file.reg , save the following into that file:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\LibreOffice\org.openoffice.Office.Common\VCL\UseOpenGL]
“Value”=“false”
“Final”=dword:1

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\LibreOffice\org.openoffice.Office.Common\VCL\ForceOpenGL]
“Value”=“false”
“Final”=dword:1

execute to insert into the registry.

Your menus are back again.

Another OpenGL issue. Refer tdf#94843.

On Win 8.1 I managed to get the menu back and to switch off ‘Use OpenGL for all rendering’ simply by “insisting”: I opened LibreOffice 5.1 again and again, and got one step further every time with reaching the option in ‘Tools’ > ‘Options’ > ‘LibreOffice’ > ‘View’ finally. Thus I had not to tamper with the registry. The first step was to click (leftmost; supposed position of the ‘File’ item) into the invisible menu bar.

Thanks. I’ll give these suggestions a try. I have no problem playing with the Registry. I’m a retired Microsoft Senior Technical Writer. I wrote one of the early versions of the Registry Help file several years ago for Microsoft Press. You’d be surprised at the items that were edited out by management, all of which you can find in any third-party volume on the Registry. I do not use MSOffice, btw --can’t think of a single reason why I’d ever go back to it unless my paycheck depended upon it, which it doesn’t.
