Style in template and the edited document aren't synchronized

Hi, I have a problem with my document, and I hope you guys can help me with it.

You see when i press the increase indent or decrease indent, the paragraph usually moves as far as 1.25 cm away/to the left margin and I think that is the default value when opening a new document, and also the value that works in my own edited template file. However, in my document based on the the template that i am working at, it only moves as far as 1.14 cm, and it happened since I edited the styles in my template and update the document.

My questions are why is that so? Can it be fixed? Is it possible to assign a custom value for those button or in the paragraph style setting? If yes, how?

Thanks in advance

Unless you have tab stops set for your paragraph style, default tabs are set in Writer options and should be universal.

I presume the document in question predates your template changes. What I’ve been doing is on the Styles menu / Load Styles, select my template and check Overwrite. (This is a LO 5.1.3 function. Previously I used to use the Template Changer extension to update Styles.) This works well if the Styles have the same name. If not, you have to do a Find / Replace on paragraph styles.

Thank you. Loading styles in styles menu fixed it.

I’m just curious though why did it happen. What makes the default tabs change after I edit the template, even though i didn’t touch the tabs setting. What I did was only changing the first line indentation of my text body styles.

Anyway, does this “Load Styles” menu also function as some kind of styles export to another totally different document?

I don’t know enough about the interplay of [first line] indentation and tabs. It would be interesting to probe. I would think you could load styles from and to any Writer document.
