Is it possible to extract/copy the Document Outline (or just Headings)

I have a document with various headings in it. Is it possible to export or copy/paste just the outline of the document (i.e. just the headings)?

I suppose this could be done by creating a Table of Contents (or similar table) and then copying this and pasting this table elsewhere but is there an easier way of doing this?

Thanks in advance

file->send->outline to clipboard and then use paste might be what you want.

Brilliant! It’s amazing how sometimes the features are right under your nose and you just don’t know they are there!

With search, you can find text with one style.

Ctrl+F
More options.
Search for styles.
Select the style to search.
Find All.
Edit copy.
Paste.

The problem I have see, that there is not break lines in the pasted text.

I was thinking along these lines but I thought it might be worth asking in case there was an easier solution.

caolan’s hint is an excellent one. Just 2 comments:
The menu is File / Outline To Clipboard… I was looking for a “send”…

I copied an outline of a about 12 page document into a new document and saw 2 bugs:

  • the first 4 headings of level 1 appear in a table
  • some empty pages where created

On LibreOffice 3.6, Windows XP the menu appears exactly as Caolan describes.
