Sometimes my .ODT loose my applied Custom Styles, why?

Hi there,

I hope you can help me with this. I’m a programmer and I like to write my technical docs in LibreOffice Writer. I have created my own Custom Styles for paragraphs and is great. I have applied my styles and my documents look great.

I always save my docs in the original .ODT format. I have noticed that sometimes when I rename or open the file to edit it again, some contents loose my applied custom styles, they are in the Styles and Formatting box (press F11) but the some parts of my document contents loose the style I have applied in that specific area.

To give you an idea, I have created a style called 88 Header 1 which I use for Titles, 88 Text Body which I use to my document body, sometimes when I open the document, part of my document body is using the style Default style instead of 88 Text Body that is the one that I have applied before.

This happens to me frequently and sometimes is frustrating because I write long software documents and you can Imagine this nightmare.

Comments, suggestions and opinions are Welcome!

If you have created your own styles, have you set the Organiser Tabs of the “88 Header 1” and “88 Text Body” to point to 88 Text Body? If they are pointing to “Default style” as the next style and you insert new text paragraphs, you may well find the text is using the" Default style" paragraph style. Also be careful with the “AutoUpdate” checkbox on the paragraph style…Peter

Thanks Peter,

I’m going to to keep that in mind.

Is it good idea to create Custom Styles using symbols like “== Header 1”?
