How do I put page numbers in a document starting with page 1

I am writing a document. I need to number the pages and cannot see how to do this (in ms word it’s in the insert menu)

I suppose you want it in the footer. I suppose is Writer. I suppose you are using LibreOffice 5.

In that case, in your first page of the document do the following:

Insert > Header and Footer > Footer > Default Style

The cursor should be now in the footer.

Insert > Field > Page Number

This should do the job!
