Running Libre Office 5.1.2.2 which I downloaded from the Libre Office Site, on Ubuntu 16.04.
Where do I find the option to check for Libre Office updates, and to manage the update process? There is nothing under the help menu item about updating.
From the menu, go to Tools->Options. Under LibreOffice in the left pane, select Online Update and make your choices in the right pane.
EDIT: I have no reason not to believe what you are saying. I was using LO v5.1.1.3 on xubuntu so I decided to upgrade to v5.1.2 and did a clean install - see my Option screen. I don’t have an explanation for your situation.
Edit 2: I now installed the off-line help OffLineHelp.png and checked the on-line help OnLineHelp.png. Not sure where you are looking in help files.

I wish I were allowed to upload a screenshot, but I’m too new to this forum, so I am not allowed to. So, you’ll just have to believe me when I tell you:
When I go to Tools->Options, then open the line titled “LibreOffice”, there is no option titled “Online Update”. It does not exist.
Any other ideas on how I can manage updates? Thanks again.
One other possibility. If I remember correctly, Ubuntu installs with its’ own version of LO. Since you installed a version from the LO site, you may need to reset the user profile. See this link.
