Font corruption on a document

I am a writer and use LibreOffice Writer’s .odt files as an intermediary file format in order to collaborate with my editor. Relatively recently, I have noticed some very odd font rendering in the document. The font I use—Minion Pro—renders with very awry kerning and weight. This behaviour is specific to the document; I can copy text from the book document, paste it on a blank LO writer document, and the font renders correctly. My question is: what in the document is causing it to render incorrectly?

Notice that the headings (in a different weight, but the same font) do render correctly. Oh, and one more thing: I edit the document in both Linux and OSX.

This issue is still present in 6.4.7.2
Fonts Minion Pro, Adobe Garamond and may be some others are rendered incorrect in LibreOffice Writer, but they are show correct in PDF files, exported from this text.

I see you are using Default Style paragraph style on the left and First paragraph on the right.

Try modifying First paragraph right clicking on it in the Styles and Formatting sidebar and selecting Modify... Look into Position tab and modify Pair kerning, look if it makes any difference.

What you see in the footer is not paragraph styles but page styles. Nothing wrong with them. There might be something wrong with the First paragraph style for the first paragraph following a chapter title.

It turned out that there was some corruption in the underlying xml, and copying the entire content to a blank document solved the problem. So, maybe your file has had too much editing and you can at least do the same.
