I get email with Excell attachments that I have not been able to open in Office Libre.
LibreOffice calc opens all the xls, xlsx and so on format. Your attachment what file extension has? Have you tried saving it first and then open it with LibreOffice?

Check that the file or document is one of the supported types. Excel usually comes with the extension like .xls and .xlsx.
