How do I install an older version of Libre Office as version 5 is not productive and does not work well at all on Ubuntu 14.4

I can’t get this thing to work.
It will not highlight
will not change margins
it often just does not work well at all
and it just looks childish.
I have been advocating open office and libreoffice for years
but right now I can’t even get the thing to work.
It is almost as if you wanted to make it as unusable as microsoft office.

I am very frustrated and would like to go back to a version that worked.

I do not know if you have registered a repository containing older versions of LibO.
If you know how to uninstall your unliked V5 and how to install a .deb package from an arbitrary source on Ubuntu, this should be the way:

  1. Uninstall the LibO V5.x.y.z you presently have installed.
  2. Go to Index of /libreoffice/old/4.4.7.2/deb and download the appropriate package (.deb.tar.gz)
  3. Install the downloaded version. V 4.4.7 should be the most matured version below V 5.x.y.
  4. Do the respective steps for offline help.

V 4.4.7 should be the most matured version below V 5.x.y
