LibreOffice spreadsheet - subscript/superscript a character in XY scatter graph axes titles

Dear all,

I have been using LibreOffice (now I have v. 5.1.3.2) for a couple of months and I’m very happy with the software. I’m especially very pleased with the suite’s integration with Mendeley.

Regarding LibreOffice Spreadsheet, I’m able to subscript or superscript a highlighted character, when the latter is typed in a spreadsheet cell, by implementing

(right mouse click)->Character…->Position

However, I can’t seem to do the same when the character is typed in X and/or Y axis in a XY scatter graph. This applies for both the previous (v5.1.2) and the current version (v5.1.3.2) of the suite.

Please fix it, because I need my graphs to be properly formatted for professional presentations.

An alternative way is using Menu/Insert/Special Character to insert directly those characters from the font without use character formatting.

Thanks for your reply, it really works. In the future, however, the currently applicable, character formatting function for the spreadsheet area, should be made available for XY scatter axes as well.

In the link provided by m.a.riosv (http://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=84454), comment 4 gives a solution to the problem, so in what follows, I’m drafting an extension of that comment (LibreOffice 5.1.4 was used).

1. Write the axis title in a spreadsheet cell.

2. With the cursor bleeping inside the cell, Ctrl+A the cell content.

3. Ctrl+C the cell content.

4. Ctrl+V the cell content within the activated (with a double left mouse click) graph area.

5. In contrast to any character within the default axis titles, any character in the new (or copied) axis titles can be formatted (subscript/superscript) with the “Character…” function (right mouse click).

6. Delete the default axis titles and use the formatted ones instead. The new axis titles can also be formatted in terms of font type and size, through the “Character…” function (right mouse click).
