Want to select as I do in Word.
I use a note method that involves single lines around.
If you’re selecting manually, looks like you’ll have to drag the mouse down to the start of the next line.
This is what I do now. it does not paste cleanly due to lack of trailing paragraph mark.

I don’t know how you do it in Word. With mouse:
2 click word, 3 click sentence til “.”, 4 click whole paragraph.
EDIT: The technique from @paul1149 works for me also the manual selection Cursor before 1.char in paragraph, hold SHIFT down and move cursor to beginning of next para.
Try to reset your user profile, might help.
This does not get the trailing paragraph mark. It makes a mess on paste jamming paragraphs together.
