I am assuming you use Win7 and want to start your Files by double clicking on them. The portable applications are not installed as normal programs in which the file extensions are registered with windows in the registry.

With portable apps you have to do it by hand: Go into windows explorer, select one file type say file.ods, right-click on it, click "open with", click on "choose default program", a list of programs appear, click Browse button, in the folder tree there navigate to the portable scalc.exe and hit the OK-Buttons.

Repeat the above procedure for all file types.

Now you should be able to open your files by double-clicking on them.
