How to open .odb file in calc?

i have a very large .odb file that i am trying to open and edit. i keep getting “Libre not repsonding” and even after waiting 10-15 mins, it still does not open in the spreadsheet. i can get it to open in database, but there are no columns so i can’t tell where to edit it. thanks.

You cannot Edit the data from Calc. If the DB is registered you can access the data from View Data sources. But you should be able to open in Base. Please Edit question or comment on - LO version & OS and also what is meant by “…no columns…”? Do you see tables? Is this embedded DB? External and what type?

thanks … it actually doesn’t open in Base, it opens in writer. i was expecting the rows & columns of Calc. It’s a Major League Baseball data base, from a 3rd party, so i am not certain exactly what it is. i’ll have to look at the data closer in the Writer and see if i can figure out the formula they used to understand what the numbers actually mean. Thanks again for the help.

Your question is confusing. A .odb file is a Base database file and will only open in Base. The program to open the file is determined by the file extension.

I assume that your reference to Calc means that you want to view the Tables in the database. When a Base file opens in Writer when you click on it then it means that the file is corrupt. Large Base files using the embedded format are prone to corruption.

Check with the 3rd party if they can open the file and if they can get a new copy from them. It may have corrupted when you tried to open it.
