What are the keyboard shortcuts for highlighting and unhighlighting text in LibreOffice Writer?

In OpenOffice it was simpler. Highlight Fill and Highlighting. Is there anything as such in LibreOffice? Can I ‘import’ these OpenOffice keyboard commands into LibreOffice Writer? Even the keyboard command be modified into something that’s more like Microsoft Office, wherein only one keyboard shortcut does the trick? A single key for highlighting and unhighlighting?

Hi

You can use ToolsCustomizeKeyboard tab to assign your shortcuts.

Highlight Fill and Highlighting are in Category: Format. Select category, function, shortcut and click Modify.

This answer helped me a lot. Thank you! Highlighting should have a shortcut by default, e.g. CTRL-H.

Hey, I’ve tried your recommendation, Pierre-yeves, the command gets assigned to the keyboard shortcut and it ‘works’ in that the mouse cursor becomes a highlighter fill bucket but when I select text … no colour changes.

Though ostensibly the feature to assign a keyboard shortcut to the Highlight / Unhighlight command exists, it has been known broken since 2011:

A macro to enable Highlighting in Calc (not Writer) can be found on the LO mailing list if you are familiar with LO macros then you might be able to port it to Writer. If you do so, then please post the ported macro here.
