I can't find familiar controls in LibreOffice5

I updated my laptop from Ubuntu 14.04 LTS to Ubuntu 16.04 LTS. In doing so, and I didn’t realise that this would happen, LibreOffice was automatically updated to LibreOffice 5. Wow, I thought that this would surely be good news…

Sadly all it has done, at least on my machine:

Acer Aspire One Happy
Intel® Atom™ CPU N450 @ 1.66GHz × 2
Intel® Pineview M x86/MMX/SSE2

running:

Ubuntu 16.04 LTS 32-bit

is to make Spreadsheet very difficult to use. I wasted hours trying to find familiar buttons and controls that for years have been right there on the screen. I had to spend hours finding, mostly by trial and error, how to get those once familiar buttons and controls to appear.

As for Drawing, well I have given up with it I am afraid. I am now actively considering abandoning my current machine and changing to a an Apple Macbook. When I open a new file on Drawing now I cannot see the entire window and so cannot view the bottom edge where things such as which Layer is selected are normally visible. It is enough to make me cry. Why oh why have you made so many changes to what was such a wonderful and intuitive software suite?

Is there anyway to reinstall an older version? The version that came with Ubuntu 14.04 LTS worked so well and now I am at a loss as to what to do :frowning:

I’m sorry for you, but this is not the right place to register complaints or file bugs/enhancement requests. It’s a place where users help each other. The developers probably have a mailing list, you can post there with more chance of having impact than here.
