We use openoffice and libreoffice. A document started in openoffice, with a header ( same every page ) , often when then opened in libreoffice on another computer looses the header. Not just once. All the time pretty much. Constantly restoring lost headers

You save in doc(x) format, I suppose. There's a compatibility issue there in converting certain page style attributes of ODF to section attributes in MSO. That means: when you use the page style called First page (which select Default page for the next page) and you have different headers or footers for First page and Default styles, you will get the same or no headers in the document when it's saved in MSO format.

Do you create your document from a particular template? Then make sure to have the same version of the template on all computers in all AOO/LO installations. Headers may be lost simply because the same page style has different properties in different versions of the template.
