Footnotes jumped in size; how do I get back the original font size?

I have edited a non-fiction books for months. LO saved me when MW decimated my manuscript. A lot of detailed work but I was very relived. Each month is marked; and for months all was well, saving, and returning. I was almost finished editing. Then this morning, Oct’s file and its 749 footnotes, changed from 10pt to 14pt. (As well as Septembers), and I can’t figure out how to make a default format and change them back.

On closer review the page’s formatting has changed to center from full.

Press F11 to open the styles list. Click in the Footnotes area and note the highlighted style in the list - is that Footnote or something else? If it’s Footnote, okay, if not, set it to Footnote. if that helps, you’re done - do the same for all footnotes with the wrong formatting. If it was Footnote already, you probably applied direct formatting without noticing it. Select all text in each badly formatted text and press Ctrl+M to remove all direct formatting.

If none of that helps, you will have to give more information, and upload a sample file. the AOO community forum is then a better place to get help.

Thank you. It’s getting better. I did as you said, took some liberties and it’s a lot better. When found the text centered I changed it to full, and footnotes seemed to return; but that was after I followed your directions.

Saying it’s getting better isn’t good enough to get this sorted out. What’s still wrong?
