After saving my writer document last night with two columns and reopening this morning, my justified text is completely lost in my two-column document. Words are chopped in half and letters are missing. When I try to connect words to correct, the justification is still completely off and won't let me add the corrective letters.

Do I need to save differently to avoid this? What did I do wrong? I generated a PDF before saving, and it looks exactly as it's supposed to.

Under which format did you save your document? LO version? OS?

Always save as .odt files - never save as .doc or .docx files or .rtf files.

Have you switched off the warning which says that formatting may be lost when saving as anything other than .odt? Switch it on again in Tools > Options > Load/Save > General.
