Why do lines specifying file extensions in writer keep getting autocorrected?

I keep coming across lines like this, that keep getting auto corrected in Writer 4.2.8.2, and I don’t know what to do to stop this from happening for example:

MS-Access application files (*.mdb)

gets auto corrected to

MS-Access application filesmdb)

another example:

Workgroup Information (*.mdw) files

gets auto corrected to

Workgroup informationmdw)

Look in your autocorrect settings - word list, etc. It doesn’t do this on my system with LO 5.2.2.2.
