I’ve been using the cross-reference tool to refer to figures in my document. It inputs the number I choose (if I remember to highlight number everytime). However, I’ve gone and inserted a new figure earlier in the document, hit update and nothing happened. The tool puts a number in but does not give it a hyperlink to the relevant figure.
For me the cross reference updates without any action. Don’t select the caption - just use Insert - Cross reference, select Illustration from the list, select the illustration that you want to refer to, and that should do it.
