Adding a page preview navigation bar to Writer

I used to use Apple Pages a lot and something that I really liked was the “Pages” navigation bar that you could display (similar to what the slides navigation is in Impress).

It adds the ability to quickly get overview of where you are in a document and the context around it. Not just by pages but visually to see the shape of the text, the pictures, etc.

This should be an optional side-bar to display.

You can use the print preview for that purpose. It has a multiple page option, a drop-down, where you can set how many columns and rows of page thumbnails you want. If you then double-click such thumbnail in the preview, the preview closes and the cursor is on that page. The setting in the preview is persistent, so the next click on the preview icon opens this multi-page view again.

Is it not enough the option to zoom out/zoom in? Ctrl+mouse wheel
