Hello! I'm wondering how can I find out the path to a linked video file or picture in my Impress presentation.

My actual problem is that I created a presentation some months ago and linked some small video files to it instead of embedding them into the presentation (here by linking I mean inserting an image or video file into the presentation keeping the default 'link' checkbox in FileOpen dialog checked, and not creating a hyperlink), and after some time I deleted those video files. Now I need to restore my presentation, and I have all the video files, but I cannot find out which one of them is used on which slide.

I tried to put all the video files into the same catalog where my presentation is, but not every one of them got recognized, so I made a conclusion that the files were linked using the absolute path rather than a relative path, probably.

So, is there a way to find out the path of a linked file in Impress in order to correct this link? Thank you!

Use Edit | Links to see all linked Objects.

Note that LibreOffice will always show absolute path to the file, even when paths are stored relative in the file (the default, but can be changed in the options)

Thanks for a suggestion! Unfortunately, it turned out that in my presentation the "Edit" --> "Links" option is gray (unavailable to click on), so I cannot see the linked objects. :(

What about making a new link and look at the link to find out how Impress is registering the link?

Yes, but how do I do that? What exactly do I have to do in order to find out how Impress registers the link? Thanks!

click where you want the hyperlink then insert>hyperlink and follow what you see there. Additionally it might be good to read the manual or help file.

@ROSt52 : I'm sorry for the initial inaccuracy. I didn't mean a 'hyperlinking'. I meant inserting a file to the presentation slide without actually embedding this file into the presentation .odp file -- just keeping the default 'link' checkbox checked.

Now I am lost. For my understanding a file can either be embedded or hyperlinked. But maybe there are expert who can explain other possibilities. There you should find the answer and I will learn something new.

Well, maybe it is also called a hyperlink, but what I mean here is that it does not look like a link to click on (what I thought to be a hyperlink), but rather looks like an embedded image or video on a slide, which is actually not built into the .odp file and therefore has to be provided as well.
